67-72 Kick Panel speakers

I recently bought some kick panels with speakers from classiccarstereos.com and I thought I'd share some photos. If I could do it all over, I would have just bought the panels without speakers and bought the speakers separately. The grilles that came with the infinity speakers are bulky and ugly so I went with a universal low profile grille from amazon. When I test fit them, they fit well and didn't require the dimmer switch to be moved. I'll add more pics once the install is complete.

Re: 67-72 Kick Panel speakers

I just used double sided 3m trim tape to tape mine to the truck after putting fat mat on the kick panel of the cab. Worked great, its a snug fit that holds them in already so the tape is really just an added insurance they don't fall out when cranking up the volume.

Re: 67-72 Kick Panel speakers

The panels ended up fitting pretty well. Had to chop a little piece off the pass side to clear a bulge in the firewall that goes to the fresh air vent but that was about it.

Those look really good! I had to make the same adjustment on the ones I got from RetroSound.

Hart Rod do you notice a difference with the tweeters in the kick panels vs not having them?

I too am curious about components vs. coax. Also in for info on the lack of a e-brake!

I'm in process of installing mine but the parking brake is in the way, I'm thinking of removing it and reposition it or bend it to clear the speaker

I couldn't live with the cheesy, plastic aftermarket kickpanels so I made my own. All you need is some MDF, fleece, fiberglass resin and some imagination. The result is a much better, more durable kick panel that allows you to use quality speakers.
I'm using a "Focal" 3 way component system and subwoofer. This is my 85 but the process is the same. You can buy metal grills online and whatever else your heart desires.

And as for the parking brake, if needed, just remove it and slightly modify the lever. I put a slight dogleg in mine for clearance. Looks factory if you didn't know better.

Could you post a link for the low profile grills on amazon?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1

I upgraded mine with a better pioneer 6 inch but had to use these spacer because of the magnet size and depth
