Stock Air Horn Compressor size

I have the factory (I believe ) air horns on my C50. Two horns on the roof. The air hose comes down through the roof and ends behind the rear seat area. There is no compressor.

I would like to get one to try and get the originals working but not sure what size to get. I don't want to blow them out. Does anyone have these on their truck and can you give me an idea what size compressor to get and where is yours mounted?

I have a engine mounted compressor on my truck. I also have another one sitting in the garage I pulled off my current engine. I believe it runs around 110-130 psi or so. If I was you I would hook up an air compressor to them and make sure they work before you do anything.

Have any pictures of how the engine mounted compressor bolts up to the engine?

A factory Air Compressor would be nice, but if you just need one for your Air Horns, I would just go with an Electric aftermarket one. Although the nice ones can be a little pricey. I got an original set like the ones on your truck at a swap meet a few years back and tested it with my little 1 Gallon Compressor at about 100 psi. They sounded perfect at 100 lbs.

Det57, if you cant find a compressor, you may look into a york 210 compressor. They are pretty popular with the offroad world and they are able to use them for cheap onboard air. I dont know how the york 210 compares to the stock compressor. Based on Pvmt-Pndr's pictures, the stock compressor looks much bigger.

the biggest york 210 model can do 10cfm of air .

for your air horn needs i would do a 3-5 gal tank and electric unit for fast / easy install and be done with it . viair is the top shelf of electric for them now last i checked .

Since its only going to be used for your air horn I wouldn't get the biggest cfm you can find at all. I ran a small electric pump on a 3x horn setup for years with a 2 gallon air tank. I had a 140 pressure sensor in it. So what if it takes 2 minutes to fill the tank, you're not going to be blasting the horn constantly. I used the same small compressor when I made an 8 gallon tank that I could use to fill tires with.

From what I read, the york 210 is rated at 4 cfm @ 90 psi. Using an online tank fill up calculator, with a 3 gallon tank filling up to 140 psi, it would only take 57 seconds.

I do think an electric pump would be an easier install

make sure you read up on the york . there is a few sizes and the 210 has the most cfm . i admit its been years for me so i might have forgotten some facts .

The York looks nice, but seems to be a good amount of work as well as a little pricey if you just need it for a set of horns. For the purpose of Air Pressure for Tires, etc, I could see it.

As bad as it sounds, lol, I like the idea of the Viair Ultra Light Duty, if you just need it for horns only. Once I get my 1-Ton on the road, I'll be looking into buying one.
