guys,
I installed a set of American Racing AR91029050800 20" x 9" AR910 0mm Offset Chrome 4 Rims 5x127
on my 72C-10 , how do i know if i need longer wheel studs? and have any of your guys had to change the stud when upgrading to a 18 or 20 inch wheel??

Put on a open standard lug nut on 1 stud does it have full thread contact through it

Why would wheel diameter make any difference? It's a matter of the material thickness at the wheel lug area. Good advice on using an open lug nut to check depth of contact

In regards to the wheel diameter, is the mounting flange looks a little thicker than the A/R 15inch wheels i took off. I will see if i can even get a standard lug nut to fit in the hole and see what type of thread protrusion i have

So i went out and put on an old stock lug nut, which is 5/8 tall(or thick) and i was less than one thread from being flush ,and i did not torque it to 90ft/lbs.

So i think that the rule of thumb that i found was the diameter of the stud should be that same measurement for total thread engagement.
I have a 1/2in diameter stud and at least 1/2 in of thread engagement i think it should be fine after i fully torque them in place

Unless someone disagrees????

From an engineering standpoint, there should be ~three threads protruding beyond the nut threads, since the beginning threads may not have as much thread diameter.
