Shifter boot opinion

I don't recollect where i got the boot. Installed in 2014,
Seems to me it failed prematurely. Is it poor quality? I do remember
Thinking it fit kinda tight going through the gears.
Are the rings holding it properly installed, not upside down?
(Has a lip that bites into it if i remember).
And... who has the best quality to replace it with?

Re: Shifter boot opinion

Looking at my Dads 72 I am going to say its upside down
It is the one truck i have that i know its original still has the floor mat it left the factory with

Hard to see the screws are a Phillips head and smaller then the siding screw

There upside down, the lip goes up. But I doubt that caused the boot to fail, might have help it to fail sooner, most likely it was cheep aftermarket rubber. I would check with Wes Hepp at Classic Heartbeat, I believe he's has meny of the rubber parts he sells made of better quality rubber, not sure about the shifter boot though.

Re: Shifter boot opinion

Hey thanks for the replies. I'll check out Wes, certain this came from a Lmc or similar.
And wouldn't you know, i got a 50 percent chance of getting those rings on right, and well shoot!!
