1960 cab replacement

Hey guys, I got rear ended and the rear of my cab was damaged. I was unable to find body panels to replace the back panel so I am looking for a cab replacement with a small window. Do you guys know if any other cab years will fit on a 1960?

also looking to replace the rear frame up to to the rear shock mounts (about 3' of frame). any ideas on that, besides getting a donor frame?

thanks guys

1960 chevy apache, short bed step side.

so far I have heard the torsion bar frame 60, 61 and maybe 62 would be the same, will my body and cab bolt on a 63-66 frame?

Cab looks fixable...unless theres more than the pic shows..I would think the frame would be the biggest concern..it looks nasty....

With the amount of damage on your frame, a frame swap is probably in your future. On the cab, a good body man can fix all that, but if you choose to get another cab and frame, it might be easier to just start with another truck and use the wrecked one as a parts truck

other driver has insurance luckily, truck appraised for 27k so the insurance is willing to spend 18k to fix.

There is some modification needed, but yes, it is possible. Member Lostmy65 has a 65 body on a 60-62 frame.

Sounds like you have a good insurance company!

Also, if you decide to look for a donor cab to use for the back wall, all 60-66 back walls are the same

The back walls are the same but I don't think you will be able to use the door opening because I think the latches are different

Re: 1960 cab replacement

A good frame shop can straighten your frame and a good body shop can fix that cab

Re: 1960 cab replacement

It may or may not matter to you, but if you have a Chevy, there is a VIN on your frame - which should match the VIN on your cab.
If you have a gmc, there isn't a VIN on the frame.
My 65 Chevy is on a 62 gmc frame. The 63-66 bed mounting doesn't line up with the 60-62, but you can make it work. For the cab, only the front cab mounts don't line up.

Re: 1960 cab replacement

Reading back over your post, I'd keep as much of your truck as possible. Although, did the insurance company consider it totaled?
