Blazer hatch. Can you fix it?

With all the interest in blazers and removable tops from 69-72 I would like to save this hatch if possible.
I would like to know if anyone has advice on rebuilding this hatch; Is it possible? Have you ever done it? What kind of results have you experienced?
What would be some references for DIY?
Thanks for all input.

Not saying it cant be done..but it would be a tremendous amount of work..
You would need to make it structurally solid...fill the cavities with foam..reshape the contours , and lay on the fiberglass...
If you had a need for one and couldnt source another one you might try..

I have a good deal of experience with fiberglass and yes it can be dun but if you’re idea is to sell it, it would not be profitable if it’s for your on truck is a labor of love

One question: Was that used as an offensive or defensive weapon?

And then, after cleaning, reinforcement, fiberglass, finishing sanding.. and painting...will it be strong enough to put the glass and gasket back in it .

Re: Blazer hatch. Can you fix it?

I do have a blazer the hatch belongs to. So it would return to the top if I am able to piece humpty dumpty back together again. The blazer was from Kentucky and is rotted pretty bad! Idk if the truck will be back on the road. Infact, I will have to post some pictures for input on that subject next.

Yeah no kidding! Thats the condition how I received it. The truck was from Kentucky, Melbourne I believe at one point. Someone painted that on the rear. I wonder if there is any pictures of the Blazer when it was alive. Kinda get the feeling it was used in the mud jamborees out there!

After looking at it on a computer instead of my phone I would not waste my time the glass is badly deteriorated you just don’t have any thing to work with

Re: Blazer hatch. Can you fix it?

Yeah I know people make molds and build crazy things from fiberglass. Maybe better to seperate the seams and make a new one from the molds.

Re: Blazer hatch. Can you fix it?

That looks pretty rough. I'm about to have mine repaired but it's only a few spots. Anyone have any idea where to find the latch hardware?
