Painted My Instrument Panel

I wanted to freshen up the gauge panel on my GMC, figured I had nothing to lose since it looked so awful.

First thing, clean it

Dried out after washing it.

Then paint the color on.

Finish up with the "chrome." That's a leftover piece of tape in the lower left corner.

That looks great! What paint color is that dark red? I have the same color in my truck and have been looking for paint to match.

I took the glove box door into my local paint supply house and had them match it. It came out as a Porsche factory color, obviously not an "exact" match. I'll take a picture of the can when I get home. I originally bought it to paint a new steering column I wanted to install and ended up getting more to do the glove box door and I'm going to paint some new door panels as well.

Went to Michael's craft store and picked up a can of Krylon Original Chrome paint and also picked up a chrome paint pen to touch in the lettering. It actually worked out a lot better than I was anticipating.

I was curious about the chrome part as well. The whole thing came out pretty nice. I'll get to my truck at some point, but my IP is black, which is easy. I'm tempted to do wood like some members have done. I have the equipment to do a wood IP. I did one for my son's '70 Dart when I put gauges in it, but I never did take a pic, and it's long gone.

Talking Re: Painted My Instrument Panel

Turned out nice i like it. I was going to paint mine to match the truck. But I got shot down by color coordinator, aka my daughter. Said it wouldn't look right and needed to break up the color on the dash.

What do I know about color coordination I'm a guy!! LOL
