Re: stand alone to Dakota digital
if your standalone wiring has an OBDII port (i googled ken welkins standalone and got nothing) dakota digital makes an interface box for hdx gauges that gives you most everything, depending on the year of your motor and pcm. for example the pre 2004 chevy motors dont send oil pressure through the pcm, but you will be able to direct wire it.

Re: stand alone to Dakota digital
As mentioned above DD has a BIM module that connects to the ODBII port or CAN bus and relays most sensor info the PCM receives to the DD gauges.
I have a 5.3 with Holley Terminator X and didn’t need the sensors from the DD kit since all sensor data goes through the PCM to the BIM module. |

Re: stand alone to Dakota digital
no worries, i googled it to try and give a better answer, it auto suggested wilkens and wilkins but I didnt think to try an "o".
the BIM should work for you, if you hdx gauges have the tft configurable display, you can get all kinds of cool stuff like PRNDL and trans temp etc. if its on the serial bus, you can display it.

Re: stand alone to Dakota digital
I've got a few bugs with my HDX. I didn't install it but the gas gauge doesn't track accurately even though I've played with it as it will allow the use of multiple ohm senders.
Also the oil pressure sometimes does/does not record oil pressure. Fortunately the hand held monitor on my Holley ECM tracks it accurately or I'd be thinking the engine had no oil pressure at times. The alarm will go off, the red warning light will go on and the pressure reading will fall to zero. Sometimes for a few moments and sometimes for a few minutes before it magically "finds" the pressure and registers accurately (I think!). All during this the Holley monitor shows adequate pressure. Last, two small air bubbles have developed in the graphics of the HDX face. They're not terribly noticeable (yet!) and I had the unit for a year before my truck was done enough to install it so pursuing it with Dakota Digital is likely a non starter but just a head's up for those considering one. These are VERY expensive units and though mine was likely not hooked up correctly (yet to be be determined) these bubbles should never have happened.

Re: stand alone to Dakota digital
Well Dan that doesn't make me feel better. I have an HDX and bim-01-2 on order for my LT-1. Which reminds me I should start tracking that thing down...

Re: stand alone to Dakota digital
I'm almost finished installing my HDX gauges. I ordered them a yr or ago and I noticed mine have a gray face. I now only see Black or White face options offered. Weird.

Re: stand alone to Dakota digital
Your problem might be a grounding issue. The fuel sender has to be grounded directly to the gauge module its self not the frame.

Re: stand alone to Dakota digital
To the frame is standard as you probably know but DD stays it needs to be to the module. I usually use the 3rd brake light wire as the ground when I rewire vehicles since I never add a 3rd light and I dont want to run another wire.
