4x4 question, do front and rear gear sets interchange?

Does anyone know if you can you swap a gear set from a front end into a rear end? Both are Dana 44.

Typically, the front end has a slightly lower ratio than the rear so that the front end will pull.

Easiest way to figure that out is , remove the axle covers and check the GM Part numbers on the ring and pinion. Should be the same , as the GMC parts book does not specify by 10 or K10 for the gear sets
