68 k10 power steering conversion
What is the best way to go about putting power steering on a 68 k10 with a stock manual steering closed knuckle 44. I know the frame needs an adapter plate for the power gearbox, but other than that is there a certain year or model of donor truck for the rest of the linkages and parts that work best. I have a rolled 1980 k20 parts truck with the steering components still in tact, can those be used?

Re: 68 k10 power steering conversion
I think you are on the right track there. I do remember reading somewhere that the steering box input splines changed around 76. I’m sure that can be adapted.
I’m doing the same thing to my 68 K10 right now but I haven’t got the gear box swapped in yet. I ordered the adapter plate from a board member here but don’t have it yet. I also decided to use a newer K20 axle to get the disc brakes as well. That has turned into a more of a project than it should have. |
