Is this a 50th anniversary truck?
A friend of mine (Mats Karlson, from Sweden) is going to look at a truck next Friday and he sent me the link to the site. As soon as I saw the truck I was thinking about the 50th anniversary Truck. Look here for the site.
(The text is in Danish.) He has a build sheet, so can anyone tell if this is a real 50th anniversary Truck? Thanks in Advance Cya, Edmond

Yes it is. The 551 is the correct paint code and the 625 is the correct interior for the pickup. Nice looking truck!!!

On the link you sent, that is the wrong cover for the seat, but it has obviously been re-done. Howm any 35 year old trucks have the same seat cover

One thing I noticed that is wrong on that truck is it should have a chrome bumper, but that also could have been changed out. The documentation says 50th!

2 ejers Black Plate Big Block Truck fra Long Beach California, denne Truck har med garanti ikke kørt mere det på speedometer udvisende 99000 miles. Urørt org. stand, Built Sheet haves !, dette dokument beviser bilens originalitet. Oprindeligt solgt fra Jack Well Chevrolet Pasadena, klassisk two-tone Guld metallic/hvid. 396 motor med muskelbils effekt, 310 HP, TH 400 Aut.gear, Power Steering, Power Brakes, tonet ruder, fuld instrumentering, GM radio og Air Condition. Pris incl. fortoldning, excl. reg.afg. KR 49.800,-
HUH???? Nice truck BTW! Actually I think it shouldn't have the chrome bumper unless it's a CST or it has the seperate chrome bumper option. "Howm any 35 year old trucks have the same seat cover" Mine does!

Remember, the 50th was an apperance option. That included the 2 tone paint, special gold and white interior for the pickups, fawn int for the burbs and panels. Trim and Chrome bumper from what I researched were automatic with the 551 paint code. On the pickups, it would have to have the trim to break up the two tone lines. On the burb the 551 paint code still included the trim, but it was only white on the top and not the bottom.

Yes it is,
It is one of the most original examples that I have ever seen. Very nicely optioned also. Maybe these two items are a early big block feature 1.The windshield washer reservoir located on the firewall. 2.The power brake booster seems a little smaller that the ones I am use to seeing. 49.800 SEK Sweden Kronor = 6.66870 USD United States Dollars

Hmm,, That's interesting Christopher.
I don't have much informatioin on the 50th itself. I always thought it just included the special paint and color combo for the seats. Also they are always Customs or CST's with chrome side trim as you know. Non-50th Customs did not include chrome bumpers unless equipped with option V731. The CST package included the chrome bumper automatically. Is the chrome bumper listed on that build sheet? I can't make it out very well. I see side trim listed there which should always be part of a 50th truck of course.

Wish I had KR 49.800, what ever that works out to be. It's right here in Long Beach too.

50th Anniversary Truck
Here we go again. I thought the 50th Anniversary trucks were 68 models
and the build sheet lists RPO A10 - Panoramis Cab. Most people say the 68 P/Us only had big back windows but here it is listed as an option. Now I am confused!

I just register the board.
I think itīs a really great site and messeageboard. I am Mats Karlson, the Swede who is going to Denmark and propably (after reading everything you guys wrote here) buy this 68 truck. I am very pleased with all the answers you put in on this thread, thank you everybody, itīs a really good help to have this before I go to Denmark. It is really good news if the truck is a 50th. About the price, the truck is 49,800 danish kronor as advertised on the danish site and in Sweden the price is 59,000:- swedish kronor, it should be about the same and maybe still a decent price. All the tax and customs as well as the shipping to Scandinavia is included so I think itīs a decent price "over here" anyway. The truck was shipped from US to Denmark in april this year. I was wondering what the original wheels would look like. is there someone having any pictures on the original wheels they came with in 68. The buildsheet says 16" , the aftermarket wheels thatīs on the truck now has 235/75x15 tires according to the seller in Denmark. Thank you everyone for all the help Mats Karlson Sweden |

Hey, welcome to the board Mats. I married an almost full-blooded Swede. The rest of her is Norwegian.
Answering Bob Moore's question, I think all 68-build sheets list the panoramic rear window even though it was not an option for that year. (Except in the larger HD series trucks C40 and above) I think it's just something funny the factory did while making the transition too all-large windowed trucks. If it is a 1/2 ton (It sounds like it is) it could have had one of three hubcaps. If is had 16 inch wheels I guess it had painted hubcaps. The painted hubcaps were also available chromed. If your truck had these hubcaps they would be listed on your build sheet. Trucks with 15-inch wheels from the factory could also have had full wheel covers (Either factory or dealer installed.) I'll dig up some pictures on my other computer and post them.

Here are the 67-68 full wheel covers. I can't find my picture of the chrome hub caps right now.

Thatīs nice Tom, if there should be a word that I donīt know in English maybe your wife could translate it if I take it in Swedish.
Thank you for the pictures of the hubcaps, they appered to be in very good condition. If I buy the truck I will look and see what there is to find over here, would like to have original hubcaps or most of all rallys. The truck is a 3/4-ton with 8-lug wheels. Is there Rally style wheels for 8-lug? The build sheet says Hubcaps: CH- and tire/wheel size are RPO code R78, 700x16x6 N T. Mats.. |

Mats,
Welcome to the board from Mississippi. You have found a very nice truck as well as very rare. It looks like it is in great shape.
