Upgraded Heat/Air ... Regrets?

Just curious if anyone that has upgraded to aftermarket heat/air wishes they would have spent the money restoring the factory set up.

If so what doesnt work as well as factory?

No regrets at all. I went with Vintage Air , Works perfect, keeps cab nice and cool
And cleaned up the firewall nicely

Re: Upgraded Heat/Air ... Regrets?

For someone that drives their trucks year round, especially up here in the damp PNW does heat and defrost work well?

Re: Upgraded Heat/Air ... Regrets?

My truck is still at the shop finishing up the LS and vintage air install. The shop owner has been drying the truck to work out any bugs. He told me the heat and defrost works as good as any new car.

Unless vintage Air has updated their units, aftermarket uses only recirculated air. Where you get that and fresh air option from a factory system.

Thats good info especially from an air con expert like yourself. I didnt know this about aftermarket air. In my personal later model vehicles I never use the recirculating air. In the cooler or wet weather it seems to fog things up if its turned on.

Yup…most if not all modern vehicles that give ya a choice between recirculated air or fresh air automatically go to fresh air when you turn the defroster on - even when the recirculated air is working….

Recirculated air is great for air conditioners, but it ain’t worth a crap for defrosters if ya have much humidity….
