Crazy. I have people ask me all the time how much I'd sell mine for. I just tell them to talk to my kids when I'm dead.

I'd sell that blazer for $400k if it were mine. Then I'd buy a $10K truck. And a house.

Barret Jackson is nothing more than someone with money showing the next guy with money that he/she has more disposable income than they do. IMHO

Re: Barrett Jackson 2022 1971 Blazer

There must be some kind of "rich & drunk" prestige attached to overpaying at B/J on Saturday nights as I saw a Bronco hammer for $300K yesterday also.

Re: Barrett Jackson 2022 1971 Blazer

Numerous K pickups and Blazer got well into the six figures. Astounding to see what prices have done over the years. It used to be the case that K trucks had a narrow appeal. I might have to up my insurance this week

Re: Barrett Jackson 2022 1971 Blazer

Anybody wanna share their thoughts on what the prices of these trucks might be like in 30-40 years when a majority of vehicles on the road are 100% electric and gas vehicles are no longer sold, and finding gas stations is actually kinda hard and risky(as far as quality)?

I understand a select few might have value, but not for the majority.
Example: All Hemi Cuda's will keep their value
...but the 9,000 1969 Z28's may not

What do you think?

Re: Barrett Jackson 2022 1971 Blazer

>> some kind of "rich & drunk" prestige attached to overpaying <<

My thoughts exactly. The terms they use like "Well Bought" or "Well Done" just freezes me in my tracks. They applaud and pat people on the back for paying twice or three times what a vehicle should sell for. They see it as some kind of badge of honor to pay big money for vehicles that sometimes turn out to be rusted, bondo-ed crap.

The sad thing about it all is that NADA and others see those prices and adjust their appraised values to this new level. It disgusts me that NADA uses those auction prices to set the bar. Appraised values should be based on "REAL WORLD" sales of a much larger sampling of what any similar vehicle sells for.

Kelly Blue Book, to me is the REAL WORLD gold standard and they make no attempt to place values on old vehicles. The range between totally rusted to pristine is too broad and too vague to affix any number.

I'm not even interested in such vehicles anymore. About as irrelevant as a Leer jet to me. Even if I could own a Leer jet, I would fly that. I would never drive a $400k investment Blazer even if I had all that money. Nothing but a rich man's trophy, or museum piece. And I ain't got no museum.

Re: Barrett Jackson 2022 1971 Blazer

Was this another ring brothers blazer? They had one sell for 300k two years ago

One of the high bidders on the $300k blazer spent $70m on a Ferrari recently

I think were seeing the blazer has appeal for this ultra-rich market that considers $400k normal price of a vehicle.

There's also the possibility of a plant buying these, auction fee would be cheap advertising and they can "justify" charging $150k+ for their blazers at their dealership

Not a Ring Brothers build.
Looks like one of those Kardashian girls bought it.

Killer blazer built by @hogieshine.
Look him up on Instagram.
This blazer has one of the new RoadsterShop 4wd chassis’.
Extremely high dollar custom restoration.

There are pics online of Travis Barker (of the band Blink-182) driving it.

Funny thing is they are only showing the next guy for 90 seconds. After that they are on to the next lot and you are forgotten about.

Fossil fuels will be here for a long time. Going all electric is a pipe dream that wont happen. Yes, we will have more electric cars, but diesel is here to stay for many decades.
The US infrastructure is collapsing! You are using roads and bridges that were built 70+ years ago and they have come to the end of their life cycle and you don't have the money to fix them, so how do you expect to build an electric grid and more power plants to power all these electric vehicles?
Besides, it wont be the lack of fuel that will kill the old car/truck hobby, they will kill the hobby with the stroke of a pen.
As far as the value of these trucks in the future, I think they will drop like a stone when us Boomers are gone.

Re: Barrett Jackson 2022 1971 Blazer

Hemi you are definitely on to something about the value dropping after the Boomers are gone. It won't be lack of interest it will be lack of funds. Kids and young adults today don't want to work and those that do just don't have the options for making money or saving it likes those in the past. I see it all the time with my own kid almost 30 and can't find the motivation or gas money to got to work on a regular basis.
