best way to plumb hydrobooster & power steering?

I am looking for lines to plumb my hydrobooster and power steering on a 69. The components i have are a 2009 GM booster, 2009 GM pump, and 86 steering gear, so all should be metric fittings.

Ive read about some using stock lines from a 01-05ish GM truck/suv, but i think those are all square body guys. Im not opposed to stock lines if they fit, or even using adapters to go to AN style fittings and lines. What i am opposed to is spending $400 on a kit like i am seeing while searching online. Any suggestions other than the $400 options are appreciated.

I used the pump to booster line from a late 70’s K30 and the Booster to box pressure line from the 09 I robbed the booster from. The return from the booster to pump was from the 09 and the return from the box to pump was just a foot or 2 of oil resistant hose. I used the OE pump and box for my 72 with an 09 booster so I had to cut, replace the fitting and re flare the box side of 09 booster to box line because I needed standard fittings on the box and pump. Since you are all metric you’ll want to use a later pump to booster line as the late 70’s stuff will still be standard but a 80’s K30 or diesel line should work. I also Tee’d the return lines because I’m using the single return 72 pump.
So I guess what I’m saying is you should be able to find off the shelf OE replacement lines that will work for WAY less than $400.

Hoses can also be made... My old auto parts store used to make them, HD truck supply stores were also another source I used as an automotive tech.

Some stores may have the fittings you may need, or you may need to supply your own. The hose itself comes in rolls, just need the HD crimper machine.

Posted as second idea in case you find your self with a mis-matched fitting or a hose that just does not work for your application.

There are only 2 lines that are pressure the other 2 are return low pressure. You can make those without any crimping. The high pressure hoses shouldn't cost more than 50-60 bucks each. The return lines have to hook to the reservoir correctly otherwise they'll foam and burp out constantly. don't know why but that happened to me on my dads truck when I rebuilt the 6.5T

Your Pump have 2 returns to the reservoir ?

I had a hell of a time at first bleeding it out with mine until I figured out I needed to add fluid while it was running even after it seemed it had primed the system; ie I had some steering assist. It was cavitating some still and foaming the fluid even though it had assist. Added some more fluid to it with it running, didn’t take very much but that did the trick. I haven’t had a problem since.

I have not done it, but I would have thought early 80s C30 square body lines should be really close?

ive actually seen your thread. I just got back from Napa with lines from a 2005 GM 2500, and they will not work. The bend in the line from the pump to the booster (on the pump end) is not right.

And the line from the booster to the gear (on the gear end) is not bent correct. Unless I'd start hacking away at the steel fender well, I don't see how it can fit...

It bled fine.
But if you would brake in a turn it would blow the T fitting apart.
Did it once in my driveway.
Nothing like re plumbing and hot PS fluid running down everything.

Like I said I used the sqaure body K30 line for the pump to booster and had no issues. I tried to use the 09 line from pump to booster and that wasn’t happening with the 72 pump. As you said the bends on the pump side were way off. I did have to modify my inner fender a bit but not a whole lot.

Yea that sounds like a great time for sure. I’ve got several thousand miles on mine with no issues with mine. When I do the LS swap it’s going to have a double return pump though.
