65 Dodge Dart

My friend parked his 65 Dart over here at my house a while back. It had a bad rod knock in the slant six engine. Someone gave him this complete engine and transmission a few months ago which has been sitting in my driveway since.

This alligator lizard was not too happy about us disturbing his home.

Re: 65 Dodge Dart

We decided to use the old transmission so we took it to the shop for a quick service. Picking it up tomorrow. New transmission lines and motor mounts are on order.

Re: 65 Dodge Dart

Today I pulled the AC and power steering off the new engine because this car doesn't have those things. I also swapped the driver side motor mount bracket which was slightly different (not pictured). The dog was not much help.

Re: 65 Dodge Dart

Are you going to clean up/paint that engine bay? The engine & trans too? The exterior of the car still looks very presentable like it would detail out nicely. It'd improve the car a lot to clean up a lot under the hood.

I suggested that to my friend, but he just wants to get it on the road. The photos make it look nice, but the car has quite a bit of rust in the back half.

Re: 65 Dodge Dart

I had some time this morning to get a little work done. I pulled the transmission off the new engine and cleaned the heaviest grease off the transmission that is going into the car.
