Panels only
Im curious how many folks on the board have a panel. I can only think of a couple, LockDoc being the only one that has one that is actually running and driving.
Ive had a panel on and off (the same one) over the last 20 years, give or take. A real love hate kind of relationship. Finally sold it to one of my sons and said ok since you paid for it you can do with it as you wish, I wash my hands of it. Previously I had given it to one of my sons and first thing he wanted to do was sell it. Instead I helped him out financially and took the panel back A couple of months ago the son that actually paid for the panel decided he wants to sell it, bought a super car instead. He asked me to sell it for him. I sort of put a query out here on the board and of course the answers I got weren't what I wanted to hear lol. So the panel is mine again haha. Who knows if Ill ever do anything with it. Id probably sell it if an actual real offer came at me instead of the, Im doing you a favor by taking this from you lol. This isnt a for sale thread though so no messages asking about it. Heck Im retired now so who knows, maybe Ill drag it home out of storage? Or maybe Ill just be buried in it someday haha! Lets see the panels you guys have, projects, drivers, or finished ... inspire me!

Well, I still have mine and I drive it a lot. It is pretty much my daily driver. It has a Camaro LS1 and 4l60e transmission. It's not much to look at but I don't take it to any shows or cruise nights so I don't worry about it. Here are a couple of pictures of it. One when it was grey primer and one now with the buff primer.... I often wonder about LiveRat's old Panel. I almost bought it when he had it for sale. LockDoc

Re: Panels only
Ive seen recent posts on other areas of the board from panel owners. I think this is sometimes a forgotten area of the board.
Thanks for posting the pics Leon!

Re: Panels only
Here is one I just bought, it was on eBay and didn’t reach reserve, we were able to work out a deal. My son and I flew out to Oakland on Monday and we are driving it back to Texas as we speak. Well, not driving it right now, the left front hub was getting a bit too warm so we found a great place in Paso Robles and are getting it taken care of, along with new tires. The tech told me the tires are 30 years old, yikes! Those old tires would not have liked the Mojave desert section I think.
68 GMC sitting on a 68 Suburban 4X4 Chassis I think. I’ll know more when I get it home and up on the lift. It’s a real nice Panel, at least to me it is Last edited by 57NAPCO; 09-15-2022 at 09:39 AM. |

Re: Panels only
My panel left yesterday to have the paint touched up where time has gotten to it, also get a good clean and buff. All other truck stuff is on hold until I get it back.

Heh, last time it went to camp it was gone three years. I’m hoping for quicker turn around this time.

Re: Panels only
Dont get too excited I have a (long) history of not moving forward lol! I am standing pat though on my other projects, car and truck, until I see how this darn thing looks when I get it back.

Re: Panels only
Man, I’m sorry guys for not following up, my wife and I took off as soon as my son and I got home. Should be back in a couple weeks and I’ll do a write up with pictures. The carrier bearing was protesting heavily as we got into our town. I parked it, ordered the bearing and left.

Re: Panels only
Nice one. Never too late. I always wanted a K/20. I had a chassis to build one from but never ended up finding a donor body.
I have a picture where OlBlue60's '67 body on '72 Suburban chassis snuck into, on our way to Carlisle. I'll say one thing, people take notice of these panels. if you finished that black one up you'd really have yourself something. Not just another old Chevy. Less common than an old Citroen (well, maybe not a wagon )

Re: Panels only
Black panel has lots of potential for sure Tim. And Im digging it more this time around than last. But if Im being honest with myself I doubt its something I will ever get done. Its a bigger bite than I can chew =)

Re: Panels only
We all lie to ourselves in some way. Can't wait to see it done!
I wish I lived nearby. I seem to be better these days at helping people on their projects than doing my own.
