Trailer hitch with factory rear bumper for 1968 C10?

I am wanting to put the factory rear bumper back on my 1968 Chevy C10 shortbed but I want to be able to have a rear bumper hitch so that I can tow a very light duty trailer of mine.

What do you guys who have trailer hitches on the back of your truck with factory rear bumper use? I would like to be able to hide the trailer hitch as much as possible which would be cool.

What do you guys have on yours if any at all?

A 70s Monte Carlo tag bracket is the same size as the C10 and gives you the 'flip down' style tag holder. You could put a frame mounted hitch behind the tag bracket and run your slide through.

But what would you do with your tag while you're hauling.. Humm.

I use the tag flip down to hide the gas fill sometimes. Never done it with the hitch personally but.. just a thought. It might cause issues displaying your tag if you have a trailer attached though. Maybe if you had two tags? Put the other one in the back window when you have a trailer?

I have a homemade receiver hitch mounted so the hitch is right where the license plate goes. Then my plate is mounted on a piece of 2x2 tubing so I can put it in the receiver hitch when I don’t need to tow anything.

Depending on what you want to spend this is available form Western Chassis but other vendors have em too. I have one on my truck and fits great. https://westernchassis.com/1967-72-C...itch-Receiver/

What modifications are required for it to fit a longbed? I looked at the site and it says it will not fit a long bed without modifications.

I could not find where it said it wouldn't fit a longbed. But I bet this is some clue as to the modifications, it says "NOTE: Due to space restrictions and variations in frames and bumper brackets some slight modification to the nut plates or bumper bracket may be required."

It states it on the POL website that sells this hitch.

Re: Trailer hitch with factory rear bumper for 1968 C10?

these guys are talking about a hidden hitch... very sleek looking and use these with a fold down lic plate holder found on the g bodies.. (78-87 montes, cutlass regals and grand prix)
you can also use a hitch from a square body if you dont mind the receiver part showing under the bumper. bolts right on , but you do have to drill a couple more holes in the frame is all

My particular hitch was bought in 2003 from Early Classic Enterprises and the guy that installed it put a 1 1/2 inch spacer on the supports to lower it toclear a crossmember and do NPT fitting would clear as well. I dont know if the Western Chassis one is the exact same a mine. I think CPP has one as well.
