Wondering what brand are your valve covers and hopefully they have small block ones.

Drooling badly....you guys with the big iron are killing me.
If I live long enough my next project is going to be a short bed 402, (favorite) mated with TH400. No air, disks brakes all around.

Thanks! That setup looks great, I've been trying to figure up something similar since I'm relocating my battery.

Did you perform the big block conversion yourself? If so, can you please describe what you had to do in regards to motor mounts/changing mount location etc? Thanks

I used these mounts converting from small to big block. Moves the engine forward an inch. Plenty of clearance for HEI and valve covers. I did have to use Hayden 2947 short shaft clutch (if you run clutch fan).

Re: Big Block Friday

Thank you STEVEO70. Are these mounts made just for this conversion and is there a source for them? Thanks again VERY much!

Re: Big Block Friday

I was cleaning my garage the other day and decided to pull the covers off of my LS7 454 thats been sitting for quite a few years. Really wish I didn't take it out of the crate back in the early 90's when I bought my house. At least I still have all the parts for it. Now that I'm retired maybe I'll do a real LS swap LOL
Enjoy Big Block Friday

Those pistons look like they have a pretty good "Squeze" to em.

Re: Big Block Friday

First pic is a 1969 L34 SS 396 out of a 69 El Camino, it made 475HP @6000rpm. I dropped it in to my first 72 LWB C/10 and "Nasty Sally" was born, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jXx...&index=1&t=10s 350TB 4:56 Posi 12-bolt, turned 13's in the 1/4. Second pic is the current pumped up 427 (.060" over 454 block) with the 396 crank, JE forged domes, 1969 closed chamber L34 heads w/stainless valves, Clay Smith springs and solid lifter cam. The 396 crank was balanced to .08gm (dead nuts) the dynamic CR came out to 12.5:1 so 110-112 octane only. Finally got her to the track before the season closed, she turned low 12's revealing she needs a bigger carb and a higher stall.
