Trans Am with a bed

This was a fun build and a really fun truck. I built it using nearly all GM parts to make it look factory and added a bunch of options and features a 1989 GMC never had such as heated, power and auto-dimming mirrors, tilt-telescopic steering, factory keyless entry and alarm and express down windows. I even moved the battery to the passenger side so i could use a 1988-89 Trans Am air intake.

Cool truck. What computer do you use to run the engine?

Nice truck!

Is this a TBI or something else? The engine looks very nice.

89s didn't come with a tach dash as far as I know. Did you or a PO add that or did it come that way? I have a 91 tach dash and am curious how much work it will be to swap out the moon gauge dash.

Thanks
Steve

TPI - Tuned Port Injection

Never came in trucks, mainly Corvette and Camaro.

I'm using one from a 1991 S10 4 Cyl with the original 1987 TA chip. I integrated the wiring harness from both the TA and the Sierra.

It's MPFI. I added the cluster. No tach until 1991, however you got the easy swap cluster as if I recall, the hardest part will be running a wire for the tach, otherwise it's a plug in. Later clusters like mine required a lot of wiring mods and a DRAC module.

Re: Trans Am with a bed

How did you get around the VATS? Is that part of the reason why you swapped the steering column?

Someone had already been in that because I never did a thing with it, using the original lock cylinder. I built the column because I'm a masochist and like to build weird things.

Re: Trans Am with a bed

All 1/2t pickups should have had the L98 in them from the factory as far as I'm concerned.
