Gas tank locking ring size

I'm trying to add a return line to my 71 gmc in cab tank. It currently has one outlet tube. Looking at the 72 sending unit, it has a return already built in. Can I just put the 72 sending unit in the 71 tank and have it fit?

The whole reason for this is a possible Holley Sniper upgrade.

No vendor specs out the dimensions???

Thanks

Jeff

Re: Gas tank locking ring size

Finally found an old post from GMCPaul that said you can use a 72 on a 71.

Ill just keep the EEC stock setup.

Yes, the 72 sending unit will fit fine. If it's in your budget, Holley offers a underbed tank made just for the Sniper system.
