Rear Camera for Panel/Sub

I'd like to install a rear facing/backup camera on my Panel. However, I have barn doors and do not want to mount it on one of the doors. I'd like to mount the camera just above the drip rail but I don't how that placement would work to be effective. The only other location would be just above the bumper but I suspect that would be too low. Anyone on the board done this on a Sub/Panel and how did it work out?

I your model with license plate holder on the door.
They make license plate holders with cameras in them. just wire thru the door and out via the piller.

I do not want either the license plate or the camera on the door.

I have installed a 3rd brake light (from Tahoe/Suburban) and it is mounted 4-5" from drip rail. I could consider a different light w/built in camera but it still poses the same question - is that position too high to be effective?

Some of the ones I've looked at mounted on Van's and such, you can see the rear bumper

Re: Rear Camera for Panel/Sub

There are so many options for "backup" cameras now that you should be able to find somethign that is exactly what you want.

Mounted on the license plate would be the most discrete even if it was low or off center.

There are about a thousand choices on Amazon to play yup/nope with https://www.amazon.com/s?k=backup+ca...s_ts-doa-p_4_7

Search out units for RVs too as they have some intended to mount high. That link is just for you to be able to see what is out there and no suggeston to buy from Amazon. It just put a lot of choices in one place.

All prices and all funcitons. I've got a cheepie license plate one for my 71 just for backing up to a trailer. My wife is worthless at playing more back and it is simpler to do it on my own.
