While I have my carb off...

Hey all.

Because I needed to replace my carburetor base gasket, I have pulled off my 1981-vintage Varajet II (no. 17081621) and have it sitting on the bench in my shop. I will be reinstalling it shortly.

Question: While I have it out of the truck, are there some things I should be checking/adjusting/cleaning while it's easy to get to?

Of course the whole thing needs going over with carb cleaner, and I'll lube the linkages and make sure all the visible springs are whole and working. I already know the accelerator pump is pretty strong.

What else?

If it has one, replace the in carb fuel filter.

Now is a good time to check the vacuum advance for proper function. If it needs replacing, easier to do with the carb out of the way.

That's a very good idea. Which is the correct fuel filter for a Rochester Varajet II (no. 17081621)? Does it take the 2-inch filter, or the 1-inch?

EDIT: Meh. I should just take the original out and see, and quit bothering people.

My practice is to take any portable part with me when searching for its replacement.

As it turns out, it takes the 2-inch filter.
