Re: 1973 3/4 ton GMC 4x4 25HD Restoration Build

So once I was able to get the pilot bearing free turns out its the original from the factory... Which means who ever replaced the clutch wasn't smart enough to do it the first time. And, to find out that my Spicier Front Drive Shaft was also in need to be replaced. So to tell you the truth I have spent over 5k into 2 trucks and completed about 1 1/2 of my 4x4. Parts are not cheap for these truck, but I love my rig more then anyone that I know. Thanks to the guys on this form most of this wouldn't of been possible, yeah I already knew how to wire a Chevy truck, but a complete build that was stretching it, But to the support of my dad, and yall this has been a great ride. What most call work really isnt work to me, I seem to enjoy tearing apart these truck and building something better, As soon as I get the T-30 Bulldog transmission put back in then its off to Morton to pick up my lift kit and install, then back to Packwood to get the Cherry Bomb Duel Exhaust, then back home to get the flat bed installed then all I need is abit of welding to patch the bed & paint will come as soon as I get to Idaho, where a good friend's brother will be painting the truck original and Kustom. Gotta make my truck look different so You know its me.

Nice, sounds like you've got quite the plan worked up.

Yep as soon as she is ready for the road, she may just get some serious lift and boggers slapped on. Trying to get the truck to the point where you would need a 8ft ladder to get into her. 44 inched tires are banned in WA but no one has said anything about 49 Iroks.

Re: 1973 3/4 ton GMC 4x4 25HD Restoration Build

Ran into a snag. Still getting everything else taken care of. Found out the front drive shaft should of been rebuild about 20 yr ago. but got it finished today. tomorrow is the hard part. Installing the Lift Kit, Bed Lift, Tranfercase, Front Drive Shaft, Hood Pin Kit, Adjusting the Clutch, Windshield, sound equipment & finding a horn that works.

Like to see how you do the hood pins, as when i did mine, the double walled hood was a giant PITA trying to keep it straight when drilling.

I know right, I feel more then stupid. Its almost as bad as trying to run away from a fat officer of the law. You can't help but watch his boobies smack his face while he is yelling for you to slow down. You just gotta stop and laugh.

Re: 1973 3/4 ton GMC 4x4 25HD Restoration Build

Yeah I am having a small problem again. One of the I6 Duel Exhaust bolts seemed to broke when I was able to remove the motor from the C10. But the 3/4 ton 4x4 looks beautiful, Will be updating the photos here soon so yall can get a feel of her. Let me put it this way, When I am done not only am I selling this truck but might be moving from WA to Arkansas. More looking for a split front 71 Camaro.

Trucks at the mechanics atm, trying to find the short in the harness, and replacing the front brakes. Also have some new stuff coming down from SeaTac, new integrated head cover and the whole top end of the motor including the duel exhaust manifold to the 250 cid.

Well my mechanic black flagged my 73 4x4, it's no longer street safe. Time to start parting her out.

Re: 1973 3/4 ton GMC 4x4 25HD Restoration Build

It's been a while, Since I last posted, life happened. And I regret to inform you guys that this build is long gone now.

But the next one is gonna take a while, I will be restoring a 1988 Burban in honor of my late great grandfather who passed away when I was 17 in 2011. Life hits us hard and we are forced to sell projects.

But stick around and let me learn you something. Out of every rig I have ever built, this next one is very dear to my heart. Between the close calls and doing my job, I found that the one thing I missed more then any project truck was simply family. So, I spent the better half of 5 years with a close friend who I ended up marrying. She is the one who pushed me to buy another 4x4 Chevy, I did that but sadly it's the wrong year to post here. I contacted a gentleman through the facebook, and he has well over 40 square body trucks, blazers, burbs. I am in the works to buy another one. With some elbow grease and a little luck with 5k, I should be online more often to post this beast. I hope you stick around for this next project.
