70 GMC K25 Flatbed Restomod
Hey all,
I purchased a 70 GMC k25 out of a field next to where I grew up. Over the last 5 years, I've been trying to get a vision of what I want the finished product will look like. I finally have most of the stuff that I want figured out, now its just doing it. I've swapped the rear end to disc brakes, I have a 76 open knuckle disc brake dana 40 hd to swap the front, its currently sitting on a rough country 2" lift and level kit with bilsteins, and I have a machined 350 I'm going to rebuild and paint gm blue. It has a 350 backed up to a divorced sm 465 and np 205 that need to be rebuilt when I do the engine swap. I found a ford split shifter with under, direct, and over. and i am curious if I can slap that inbetween the tranny and transfer? Anyone with Experience? ive seen the longhorn square body with one, but they dont have many build pictures. Pictures will come after work today. Thanks everyone for your help this far. |

Welp, all I can say, is, “that was a long shift”.
I’ve slammed the 76 axle in, swapped an engine once, rebuilt the transfer case, and got into an accident. I’ll post up some pics. Does anyone have a 70 gmc driver side front turn signal they’d like to part with? |

Question time.
I NEED hydro boost brakes. I can’t get this thing stopped as fast as I know I should. I use it for my tree business, and I actively tow a 10,000lb trailer plus the 7,000lb truck. I’m also debating the bed. I love the 1/8-1/4 inch steel bed, but the thing weighs 3,000lb itself. I’m all about being overbuilt, but when is it overkill 🤣 |

Anyone have a good replacement solution for this? I’ve looked up the ORD brace, but I have a welder that is GREAT at what he does, and I was wondering if I could notch this out, and replace just the mount with a “new” one, then add the brace.
I want to make this thing new again, so I can go and destroy it. Then repeat the process |

I don't know why no one has responded to any of your posts. That's a shame about the accident. I have a GMC park/turn assembly. What's your zip? I'll see how cheap I can send it

Well, engine swap number two. Apparently there is a reason to check your clearances on your rod bearings 😅

Wound up having to go back to the spreadbore intake I have. Incentive to rebuild the quadrajet I’ve had disassembled for two years now.

I’ll have to take a better picture of my cherry shift knob, but here’s my 4x4 transfer case knob. When I bought the truck, it was missing both 😑 I used the auxiliary transmission knob from the 65 GMC 5000 I have as a template. I made the cherry gear shift knob a little bigger for my hand size

How about just send me $20? I'm busy and forgetful. The heat is a killer, too. I think it will be cheaper than a Flat Rate box it would fit in will cost if I box and ship by weight. I doubt it will be less than $20 and not much more, which I don't care. I'll send my address in PM

Here’s a picture of the shift knobs. Where do you all source your wiring?? I had an elderly friend help me with the firewall out, but I’m trying to do the firewall to the cab myself now. I’ve gotten the AAW double and single crimpers, an fuse block from a 76 so I have blade fuses and more ports, the Milwaukee soldering iron, and a bunch of the correct packard connectors to rebuild it all. I just want the best wiring I get get. I REALLY, don’t want to have to do any of this again for a few years.
