Thanks for further explanation.... that's something I am not familiar with. As to the review boards, I don't usually look at 'em either, probably because I almost never buy or sell.

This is not surprising to see coming from them....I had issues with the cheap transmission cooler fittings that they use in their radiators. I ended up sending it back with the fittings that I wanted installed in them, got the radiator back with the fittings welded into the tank at a cost of $70 shipping to return it, $50 for the repair, and another $70 return shipping. $190 for 2 3/8” diameter welds. I could have done this repair myself. I wanted the radiator repaired not patched. This is after buying 4 of the radiators from them. The slow shipping and lack of communication alone will keep me from being a return customer again.

Not sure if this is the right place but my Rad from Sparky is also leaking from the bottom. I have been smelling coolant the last 2 years finally see it. My experience dealing with him was also very poor. I wouldn't buy anything from him again.

I’m still baffled as to why he’s still allowed to post here, and just as baffled as to why I never got the first response from a forum owner/moderator after multiple attempts to contact them about the huge problems I had with him.

I had refunded theastronaut since it was our mistake, that was years ago. hundreds upon hundreds of sales each year, and maybe 1 or 2 that have mistakes, which we fix. our radiators have a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects. Any manufacturing defects present themselves VERY quickly. After that, its either due to vibration issues / mounting issues, or electrolysis (among other possibilities). The complaints noted were from what, 3.5-4 years ago.

I highly encourage anyone to read what it took to get RnD to finally admit that welding a filler neck in a completely inaccessible area was their problem.

He never offered to fix the problem, and only finally decided to reimburse us for having the radiator fixed locally after I posted here and exposed what was going on. He even went through the trouble of editing the warranty description on his website to no longer cover the problem we had. Pretty scummy thing to do. I posted dated screenshots of cached pages that show both the original warranty description and the updated warranty description.

I'm a very understanding and patient person, I believe in second chances and forgiveness, but after dealing with RnD I'd sell all my watercooled cars and drive aircooled VW Bugs before ever ordering another RnD radiator. Its sad that someone that handles problems like this can continue to be a vendor here.

I understand if years later you wish to state that you wouldn't buy from us, which is absolutely your right. But even as you said, we were wrong and we made it right.

Did you make it right? You reimbursed what it cost us to have it fixed locally, because we had to have it fixed locally after you only wanted us to pay for a new filler neck.

Was it worth the hassle of what it took to get you to finally “make it right”? No.

The fact that you edited your warranty to get around being liable for what should’ve been an obvious manufacturing error *after* we emailed about the problem is the problem here. You’ve never acknowledged that any of that was wrong, and that’s a major red flag. The amount of effort you put into getting out of making it right is the problem.

So yes, you “made it right” if sending a check to cover our cost of having it fixed locally is considered “making it right”. Owning up to and apologizing for dirty dealing would be appropriate in regaining the trust of anyone reading all of this.

Yes, you said reimbursing you would make it right. So we reimbursed you which is what you requested, and you said that made it right. I'm sorry we had an error in judgement all those years ago, and could have / should have handled it better & sooner.

Sorry, i thought when we discussed and reimbursed you and you said that we made it right, that it took care of it for you. But now I see that isn't the case. Again, sorry for all of it and the hassle, as I didn't realize you were still upset after all these years and were waiting on a different apology.

Unfortunate I did not see this thread earlier.
I have a rad with about 1,200 miles on it and it has begun leaking from the bottom. Emailed Sparky on Sunday afternoon, havne't heard anything back, no acknowledgment or anything. Regardless I'm up in Canada so even if I hear back shipping is going to make it almost not worth it once I factor in the return back. I'm more upset that a new rad like this is already leaking.
