Re: Thoughts on Gen 5 Vintage Air Install

Great info in this tread. What are you guys doing with the kick panel/cowl vent doors? Just keeping them permanently closed?

They are still usable. The passenger Vent door can't be opened all the way, but it can be opened enough to work.

Re: Thoughts on Gen 5 Vintage Air Install

My truck had factory AC, so the passenger kick vent and cowl vent had vacuum actuators on them. I read through the VA install and didn't see if and where they were reused/integrated into the new system. Only the drivers side kick vent had the manual rod to open/close it.

Re: Thoughts on Gen 5 Vintage Air Install

Maybe you could replace your passenger vent door with one from a non-A/C truck. Here are some photos

Re: Thoughts on Gen 5 Vintage Air Install

Thanks for the pics. I see why the vent can't be opened all the way, that is a tight fit! I think the doors are the same, I would just need the manual linkage.
