What pulley do I need?
Here's the deal on my 1969 350 engine.
At the crank shaft counting out from the engine I have a pulley, then a space, then 2 more pulleys. Right now, the A/C compressor belt is occupying one pulley space too far from the engine (3rd groove out) and it does not line up properly. It is doing OK, but I would rather have it line up and use the 2nd grove out from the engine. The crank pully appears to be 6.5 inches diameter. I have a water pump pulley with 3 grooves so it looks like I could get one with 2 grooves, and I don't need that 3rd groove out from the engine. The water pump pulley appears to be 5.75 inches diameter. The water pump is a short water pump. Is there an appropriate pulley set that I can get to replace my engine and water pump pulleys? Rockauto or used? What do I look for? I don't want chrome or billet, just want plain stock pulleys. Does the A/C normally line up on the 2nd groove out from the engine or is mine weird? |

Re: What pulley do I need?
I had to swap out some of my pulleys recently to add A/C. I believe this is what you'd need:
Double groove inner crank pulley for alternator and A/C. #3744043 BA This would allow you to move the A/C belt toward the engine. If you then want to eliminate the extra third groove on the water pump pulley, then you'd need pulley 3995646 AH. This arrangement will leave you with an extra groove on your outer crankshaft pulley. If you want to address that, then you'd replace the outer crank pulley with #3751232. This would not line up with your current power steering pump pulley though. I couldn't find the part number on mine, but I believe it is 3993325DJ based on a thread search. Here are a couple photos of my setup. |

Re: What pulley do I need?
Thanks. I see TxGary has that crank pulley for alternator and A/C listed in the parts section. I will try it out.

Re: What pulley do I need?
This is the stock pulley on the '70(alternator on driver's side), and the front groove is for A/C
Hope this helps
