It's cool to see this thread resurface. I have one to contribute. I LS swapped this 72 GMC within the last year and have been driving it for a few months now. It's a 2004 LM7 with a 2002 NV3500 transmission. I did not rebuild the bottom end or heads but I did update, replace, and clean pretty much all the auxiliary items. I used many "LS swap" parts as well as some custom made bits and pieces to make everything work. I have extensive details on everything in my build thread.

Man that looks good! Makes me wish I'd painted the whole motor orange instead of just the block. Pretty sure I saw you roll into Fall Revival, that thing looks great!
