1983 Chevy John Deere Re-power
Does anyone know of a company they would recommend that would build me a custom radiator? The harmonic balancer on the Deere engine is currently sitting right in the center of where the original radiator was located. After studying the front core support, I think my only option is to have a custom radiator fabricated, & mount it in front of the core support, behind the grill. 17''x36'' ish.. Any input would be great! Thanks guys,

Re: 1983 Chevy John Deere Re-power
Instead of going custom and having issues getting it repaired later, can you use a 2nd gen Dodge radiator? I cut out the center of the chevy radiator supports and add the 2nd gen dodge rad and intercooler when I do my swaps now. Easier to get parts on the side of the road if anything ever happens and that radiator does a good job cooling. Here is a link with some measurements for them.

1983 Chevy John Deere Re-power
Radiator is in! I ended up finding a company that builds radiators to size, & had one made as big as I could to fit between the core support upright sections. Rubber mounted on the bottom & top. I need to reinforce the top section of the core support that was removed next.

Re: 1983 Chevy John Deere Re-power
This is a damn cool build man! The closest I've seen was a mechanic that used to work on busses put a 3308 Cat in his crew cab drw for pushing the busses around.

He hasn't been on here in a year and a half. You could try a p.m., or search for his screen name on instagram. He's a younger fella, and may have moved to that or Facebook format.
