Have owned 3 solid axle Chevy 4x4's, two 72's and an 85. Front axles all the same width. Have 17x10 wheels with 4.5" backspace for the current truck. Will run 37x12.5x17 tires. Wheels put the tread even with top of front fender. Sidewall will stick out a bit. The 8" wheels you are considering should sit about 1"-1.5" further in than mine on the front. Will be farther in on the back. Have same width axle in rear of my truck now, so front and rear reveal will be the same.
