column half moon pinout

.

I've found it before but tonight I cannot find it.

Can somebody here point me to a pinout list for the column half moon connector...the one that sends the wires to the rear harness.

Just last week I had the thing on my screen but I can't get to it again for some reason. Maybe because I was diagnosing brake light issues at the time but now I'm trying to fix tag light noop.

Thanks

-Kevin

You're just "around the corner" from it.. Go to the first page of this (electrical) forum. Diagrams Finished has what you're looking for.

I looked there...found a few examples of the half moon connector but the contacts are not labeled. Just need the pin outs for that connector...OR...

Where does the license plate light get power from? The light switch? Does it go through the column half moon?

Thanks!

The license plate light is powered off the tail light wiring.
Check the thread from my FAQS thread on the electrical home page. on testing the turn signal wiring.

.

Thank you Sir!

In the color wiring diagram finished thread, I located the license plate light and it appeared to be wired to/with the driver rear. When I pull the headlight switch on, the license plate light is illuminated with the same 12v that illuminates the left rear parking lamp?

I'm not sure if this will answer your question.. The various circuits are marked (coded) in two ways.. Some of the circuits are worded as to what they serve.. Others are color coded.. An example of this would be 16LB.. This would decode as 16 gauge wire, light blue insulation..

For instance -- you want to find where the right rear. brake light is located in the "horseshoe connector".. Locate the circuit device -- right rear brake/turn signal light.. Trace it's wire back to the "horseshoe" connector.. In this example, it would be an 18 gauge dark green wire.

In explaining your question. Download and print both "halves" of the wiring diagram.. Trim and carefully splice them together with scotch tape, making one large sheet. Locate the wire for the license plate light on the wiring diagram. It's a 16 gauge brown wire. It's a brown wire on the diagram, never mind the actual color of the wire on your truck. It could have been changed at some point in the past. Follow it to where it splices into the tail light brown wire. This is where the light gets its power. The splice should be near the tail light itself. In any event, the license plate wire doesn't go the full length of the truck all the way back to the "horseshoe plug". It's not part of that circuitry.
