1988 Suburban Column in a 1984 M1010
I have a quick question. I have a 1984 M1010 that I am trying to replace the ign and door locks with a matched set that is not the government key code. When I went into the column it looks like it has an older column in it as there was no pin to pull out before pulling out the switch. I also have a 1988 suburban with tilt column and the newer ign switch with the pin to hold it in place. Can I swap these two columns to allow me to match the keys in the M1010 and have a tilt wheel plus as a bonus cruise control....??? I already bought the locks for a 1984 thinking that since it was an 1984 M1010 it would be correct. Apparently the column has been switched or GM used some old columns for the first of the CUCV's.

It should bolt right in. BUT some of the wiring may be different from the Suburban column with the wiper switch and such

Thanks. Not sure if that is the route I will go but good to know it will work. Right now I'm changing the transmission mounts.
