Re: Where do you start?

All depends on what you want in the end. A fixer upper? Just a daily driver? I wanted more but not a frame off that will end up in pieces never done. The more you do the more time it takes. The route I took is maybe not what others would do and is taking longer than planned due to life choices I have made with my time. I will get it done regardless.

The truck is in awesome shape, it’s just been sitting under a barn for 25 years. Any and all advice is appreciated.

P.S. I’m figuring how a lot of this stuff works as I goi just put my first set of drum brakes on this truck. I’m a small engine mechanic by trade, but have never fooled with trucks much other than the basic oil changes and basic stuff. So forgive my ignorance.
The frame

But you knew that. Seems you want a nice clean driver. Does the original cold start system work? How about the vacuum system, including the charcoal can? Perhaps loose points for a HEI, I really like my old Delco. I also like my Delco mini-starter.

I'd tackle any rust issues for sure. These trucks are pretty simple once done. IMO, besides what's needed now, decide how far you want/have to go, check your wallet, and make a hobby of it.
