Dash Sill Color

The PO replaced the dash pad with a black urethane version but half-assed the install leaving a few speed nuts off the upper studs. The sun warped the pad at the studs making for an unsightly wavy mess. Looking at the dash sill under the pad up to the window base is a finish that was the same as the original gauge cluster panel and glove box. It is a sort of mauve color. I have changed the dash and glove box door to wood. The sill needs refinish but I am less than happy with this color. Has anyone used the ochre color on the sill? Does it reflect too much given the glossy finish? Other suggestions for color? I plan on using a saddle color pad. Truck is a 72 Ochre/White with a Sierra Grande trim level or possible Sierra as the bed and front fender is simply Sierra and appears original, but glover box says Z84 Sierra Grande equipped.

Mine's (flat) black because I have a black interior. If you want to use ochre, you can have a flatting agent added to reduce the gloss. I'd not want gloss there. Glare drives these old eyes wonky.

I used the medium bronze base without the clear, then sprayed the textured “gravel guard” that normally is used on lower panels which gave me a textured finish. I wasn’t sure how it’d turn out but I like it. Something different.

I continued with the saddle color on top of the dash.

Glare is a big issue for me as a well. So I think the ochre idea is out. No go with any light color. The kindle or rough finish may be difficult to clean. I live in rural so cal and it's dusty. Carrying the saddle brown color in flat finish is probably the safe route. I appreciate everyone's time they took to post. It was a big help to run this idea around in my head.

My original interior paint was medium bronze. Dash was the same color, but flat. Changed color on my truck with the rebuild. Used a single stage PPG paint. On the top of dash and defrost vents a matte clear was sprayed over the SS paint to cut the glare. Changed the shade a bit. But still looks fine.
