crazy idea to put a clutch fan on a K20?

I have the fan off my K20 and it is a direct drive fan from the water pump pully. I hardly ever tow or haul heavy loads with this truck, but I do once in a while. It never gets anywhere near overheating. It seems like I could take a little strain off the belt system if I put a clutch fan on it. Would that be a bad idea?

Do it!! I run a clutch fan on the 383 in the 68 and it never gets hot and it is quieter.

It's not a crazy idea at all. Since you don't tow much, go for the regular clutch rather than the HD one.

Agreed...the HD models are noisy, and hurt MPG without much additional benefit.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel better about it now.

I also noticed a piece missing out of one fan blade and I don't want to wait for another piece to fall off, so I'll be looking through my fan stock to replace it.
