Can't find proper length outer tie rod ends

On my 64 C10, the old inner and outer tie rods all measure 8" from end to end. The new inner ones I got from orileys (precision line) measure 7.5" (close enough) BUT the outers measure 4.75". I measured a total of 17-1/4 " from end to end of the old tie rod assembly when I pulled it off the truck. I can barley hit 16" now.

Where can I get the proper length outer tie rod ends?
Will a later model one work that's longer?
Do I just need longer sleeves?

The factory ones are pretty short if I remember correctly, any chance the truck has been swapped to a newer setup at some point? Like maybe someone put new power steering and crossmember in or something because the 67+ ones are longer like your describing your old ones.

I'm pretty sure the crossmember is the factory one.
I added power steering to it a few yrs ago.

I just looked up the tie rod ends for a 67 and it is a different part #
than the ones for a 64 and they look longer in the pic.

Re: Can't find proper length outer tie rod ends

I think I have it figured out and I just want to share this in case someone else does a search on for this issue in the feature.

Based on what 350tacozilla said about the 67 tie rods being different lengths, I think 67 tie rods and tie rod sleeves have been put on this truck at some point. I measured the tie rod sleeves that were on the truck and they are 6 in long. The factory 64 sleeves are 8.6 in long from the specs in the description from different vendors who sell the 64 sleeves. I've ordered the correct sleeves and that should correct my issue.
