18 Years later, I'm back, and so is my 69 CustomCamper/10!

My Dad sold our beloved truck almost 20 years ago when he wanted to buy his dream car a Porsche 911 Turbo. All those years later we regretted selling the ole girl and luckily kept in contact with the person that bought it. This year she contacted us and was looking to sell it. I immediately e-transferred a down payment, wasn't going to lose it again!

We sold it with 86,000 miles and got it flat decked back as it had been sitting for quite some time. Looked at the odometer, now at 89,000 miles, barely driven all these years! Some new batteries, flush the old fuel out, some seafoam, oil change and some wiring, it was running in an evening.

My Dad is getting up in age, heck I'm almost 40 now! I was just a teen when I was posting on here during the dawn of the internet (doesn't seem all that long ago??) Now I have a family of my own and my own collection of Monte's and other projects, but still make room for the 69

Welcome back our CustomCamper/10 CST blue beast

I love the sliding glass back window in these trucks.

Is it still in good shape?

Very lucky, for most, when it's sold, it is gone forever. Nicely optioned vehicle, the original owner must have ordered it in. Every year has it's plus and minus, however, IMO, '69-'70 had the best offerings of cool metallic colors and you have one of those.

Welcome back to the family. Glad you got it back. I know that feeling, I sold my Camaro SS 6-speed when our kids were born. I miss that car. But it's what a family guy does. I always wanted a truck, preferably a classic so california can leave me alone. Got my '72 but it ain't a Camaro. Don't let the truck go again. You may never get it back a second time.

My Dad bought it from a fellow that sold a dealership in Penticton back in the mid 70's. I t was ordered as a show piece demo truck. Very well optioned with all the bling, CST package, wood box, and of course the BUCKET SEATS! Shortly after he bought it, he was going to need the extra seat because my Mom was pregnant with my older brother.

He is still kicking himself in the ass for selling off the original buckets and console and putting the bench in! I wanna return it to its stock form, but we all know how hard it is to find an original bucket console combination. The truck still has the carpet behind the seat.

I have seen you can get some high back buckets, cut the bars off, and with some modifications make em work with 69-70 foam.

I remember him swapping it out for a newer style with the tinted glass. Should have kept that one, but at the time, the handles would pull off and I think it leaked. It had those big grab handles and aluminum frames. Was it a dealer installed thing? Or did these trucks come from the factory with that window?

I do not think they came factory with a sliding rear window.

I noticed the window right off in the picture.

Because that was 1 of the first things my Daddy would install in a new truck.

It had to have a sliding glass window. cloth seat and a CB radio.

Some good info:

https://www.gm.com/content/dam/compa...olet-Truck.pdf

The A28 rear sliding window was an option in 1971 and 1972.

Yeah sadly he took em out after he bought it not knowing how rare they are. Yeah, it's quite the full spid, Custom Camper 10's are apparently not all that common? Has leaf spring rear as well. There's a few things not on the glovebox list that appear to be stock, did they run out of room for RPO codes? Things I see missing are the cargo light (but I think that was included with the CST package?) the tachometer isn't listed, but it's all factory appearing with the grommet and all, the glovebox light, passenger vanity mirror, telescopic antenna, and high/low note horn
