Re: Trucks in the Wild
Neighbour getting new fence built and the builder showed up in this 66. Of course I had to talk to him and I guess his Grandpa bought it new and its on its 4 engine now, now has a 350 he said, and he figured it has 1,000,000 miles on it. Also said it has been worked hard from new.

Re: Trucks in the Wild
Top Pic -- Post #988: Is that a 292 or 250? Any more pix of the whole truck?
I can tell it's a white 3/4 ton longbed fleetside from the crayons. That is a really nicely set up L6. Headers, A/C and P/S.

It's a 292 and I think the engine is what impressed me the most 'cause I neglected to get a picture of the truck itself. I think it was completely stock appearing if I remember correctly.

Like my Daddy used to say, ''We're out for a good time...'' You had fun at that carshow, and you shared it with us. Super. Talking with friends, and making new friends of like-minded Chevy Truck Nuts is all part of the experience. I'm probably not alone here when I like to see how much detail I can extract from a single photo. So, yes, the lack of a stock Heater Core points to aftermarket A/C. Vintage Air, maybe? Sanden compressor? The Carb is neither a Holley or Edelbrock -- have to guess a Rochester, based on the funky vac-actuated Choke. Air Cleaner is kinda small. Yeah, not the normal Power Brake Diaphragm. Could he have Hydroboost Brakes? Headers look familiar -- mine are early Clifford Research, but Heddman also has L6 Hedders. Breather Cap in lieu of PCV System. Gauge Dial in the firewall arch -- Fuel Pressure, or Vacuum? [Good spot for dialing-in A/F mix] Hard to tell the Intake Manifold -- could be Clifford or Offenhauser -- not enough showing. Without seeing the engine layout from the Passenger Side, we can't size the Lifter Covers. This could also be a souped up 250. Look at the airspace between the top of the Valve Cover and the Firewall arch. Anyway, very neat L6. Not jealous at all. I salute my fellow Inliner, whomever he is... Adding a shot of my 292 for comparison.

Re: Trucks in the Wild
Weber 38/38 carbs would be my guess. 250 usually doesn't have the bypass hose from water pump to water outlet under t-stat. Either way pretty cool setup . And small vacuum booster on the brakes.
