Guadalupe Mountains
I just got back from New Mexico. I went down there earlier this week to visit my stepson and his wife. I helped him do some flooring in his house Wednesday.
Thursday we went to the Guadalupe Mountains and hiked up to the peak. We got some really nice views. An especially cool view of El Capitan and the Chihuanuan Desert. The peak is over 8700 feet above sea level. My watches data said it was 3200 feet of ascent.

Nice!!! Glad to see the land of entrapment didn’t keep you hostage for to long lol. (It’s a New Mexico thing) we do have some pretty cool desert scenery for sure. Did you eat any green chile?

We planned to do this trip in November of 2022 but we had a last minute cancellation. It was going to be a hike-camping trip for a few days. Hey Tyler, Joe told me about about how good the green chile is and how much he likes it. I didn’t get a chance to sample it, we simply forgot. I’m definitely down for trying it. I met Joe when he was 8 or 9 years old. He was a smart kid that like to talk to anyone. His first job was working for his Papa doing leather work. They made gun holsters, slings,belts and knife sheathing. His papa took him to shooting events and car shows at a very young age. Joe has a lot of his papas guns now. As a teenager he worked for the one of the carpet and furniture stores I subcontract out of working in the warehouse and doing furniture and appliance deliveries. Everyone there has a very high opinion of him and asks about him all the time. 5 years ago Joe and his wife came up for a visit. It was during that time he encouraged me to get back into running. What he told me was simple and from the heart. He inspired me get off my butt and out the door.

Very cool pics and trip.
I have never been to the highest point in TX. I dont know why. Been to Big Bend, Midland/Odessa, ElPaso. I do check out Cloudcroft on Zillow frequently though. Especially when its in the 100s here. 70 degree highs all summer and a much longer summer than here.
