Bought a New Truck, Need Some Inspiration

I picked this old girl up from a buddy of mine yesterday. I plan on keeping the full trim / all black look, factory height, but switching the wheel / tire combo to 15x7 steelies w PO1 caps. Does anyone have a pic tucked away in their archives of such a truck? I know I’ve seen one before but I can’t find it. Here is my truck and a 72 version of what I am looking for. Thanks guys!

Re: Bought a New Truck, Need Some Inspiration

That picture you showed is inspiring enough for me! In '89 I had a black SWB '70 CST big block that fits your description. It needed nothing. I didn't lower it, it had the PO1s with narrow whitewalls, just like that picture of the '72 you showed. It had a bright red bucket seat interior and I painted the wheels red to show that little bit between the wheel cover and tire. That's about all I did to that truck, as I recall

Re: Bought a New Truck, Need Some Inspiration

Looks like a great foundation.

Here's my Dad's 71. Wheels are now rallys. I have P01's on my 72 shorty (green), but I really like the looks of the first one posted (skinny white wall).

It's a beautiful truck to start with. I like the black top better than the white.

Re: Bought a New Truck, Need Some Inspiration

Thanks for the support guys. It's a cool truck and it is already in pretty decent shape. It has been pieced together with various parts and pieces over the years but my plan is to go back through it and do it right. It has some funky body work, bondo popping, wiring, interior, etc. I will strip all of that down and make sure the metal is good before re-doing body work and blending the paint. Remove the romex wiring and probably put a new wiring harness in it before it burns to the ground. Restore the interior, replace the wheels and tires, install new trim, maybe bed line the bed floor, and then drive the wheels off of it! Should be a fun one

Re: Bought a New Truck, Need Some Inspiration

I have no input on the color or wheels
But had to say. She’s a nice truck. Love it.

Re: Bought a New Truck, Need Some Inspiration

Ended up looking great! Where did you get the rear bumper? Was it aftermarket? Looks nice and straight. Seems every repro rear bumper I see here on the forum has a slight "frowning" bow to it. Did you use oem or repro brackets? Also, did you replace the front bumper? Same supplier?

Both bumpers are repop from counterpart / truck and car shop. Brackets were original Gm bumper brackets
