wing/vent windows won't latch
This is a '69 c10 pu.
It's been apart for a long while and I don't remember where I got the rubbers. I installed new glass, new rubber, and new latch assy. I don't have the old parts to compare. It's most likely parts from LMC, but not sure. The window closes and looks to be sealed to the rubber, but it will not latch. It looks like I need to grind 1/4" from the back of the non-locking latch. right and left wings look the same and won't latch. I tried to force one closed hoping the rubber would relax, but the latch pivot broke. I've read several threads and not found this same issue..... Do I need to order a specific vendor's rubber? Or am missing something? Thanks

Re: wing/vent windows won't latch
I am pretty sure there is a left and right seal. Did they get installed opposite? Possible one of the rivets is in the way? Rotation limiter washer not installed correctly? There is not much that can hold the window open.

- All vent window seals are not created equal. Read this thread. https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vbo...d.php?t=660294 Start at post #29 if you don't want to read the whole thread. Keep in mind that this thread is in the Suburban forum but the wing vents are the same..... LockDoc .

Re: wing/vent windows won't latch
I replaced the rubber with new precision seals. It was difficult to close, I had to put a lot of pressure to close them. I didn't do a lot of pulling on the latch, so I didn't end up with a busted latch. Lucky for me I suppose. After I pressed the window closed firmly and carefully, I slid the latch into place. After leaving it closed for a couple weeks, it opened and closed and latched normally.

Re: wing/vent windows won't latch
Thanks for the input everyone.
The rubbers line up with the glass, frame, and hinge. It just seems too thick. I even used a wood clamp to compress it as much as I dared to. NO JOY I'm going to order different rubber and try again. I'll update here with my eventual resolution. Thanks again!

The following vent window seals have received good reviews on other threads here:

Re: wing/vent windows won't latch
Sorry to be "that guy".
I just today took the wings back apart, because it's getting close to reassemble time for this project. I ordered the above-mentioned seal set. The bent piece looked EXACTALLY the same as the ones I had. The straight piece, however, is a different story. After changing just the straight piece, and installing new latches (because I broke the old-new ones trying to force it closed), They now close fine. Thanks everyone for the tips and recommendations. _
