I tore into the extra Vortec 350 I had today just to see what kind of condition it was in. I knew it was seized, but no external indicators as to why.
It’s not looking great already, lol. Looks like the 5/6 journal took a beating! I sort of expected this, but I was hoping the damage wouldn’t be this bad. At this point, I can go one of two ways: • Source a new crank/rods and rebuild this engine with the Vortec EFI system in place, which would require a fuel system and modifying/purchasing a harness. • Rebuild the other Vortec motor (basically has scuffed pistons and needs a re-ring, but otherwise serviceable, and run it with a carb conversion intake. I’m leaning towards the second option because it would be cheaper, faster, and I don’t need trans control with the TH350. |
