I'm no help to the OP, but the Barrett-Jackson auction folks managed to get the law changed here in Arizona to allow removal of an identifcation plate if its in furtherance of a restoration for certain years of cars/trucks. It used to be a felony here to remove a ID plate during the painting/restoration of a car. Arizona has made it almost impossible for an off-site vehicle inspection and the only place with full-time inspection staff is in Tucson or Phoenix, both 160 miles away from me. I need an inspection and I'm not confident driving the truck that far, so looks like i'll have to have it trailered, What a PITA I've had some reasonable luck getting old title duplicates for cars I've bought and not bothered to transfer the title (sometimes requiring a bonded title to get it in my name) Best advice is to not buy cars/trucks with title issues - but here we are |
