Every SBC I have dealt with including my 68 w a 327, uses 5 quarts if you change the filter. Assumes 1 quart filter. There is a reason a lot of oil comes in 5 quart bottles. This doesn't mean there aren't oddball applications that have larger pans.

Make sure for the older vehicles you aren't accidentally reading from a different engine size page. Some owners manuals were rather general and covered many possible option packages.

For the turbo equipped car, is some of the oil trapped in the turbo?
