Little paint

Been doing a lot of body work. Being in Wisconsin and needing to drive the old boy in the winter I decided to just finish up one pannel knowing I’ll scuff it up and paint it again when the whole burn is ready. There is something very satisfying to see what the end project will look like. All the body work was done and I just sprayed it in the driveway, yeah there is tons of dust and a few bugs ruining everything. Still it’s cool to see the difference between new paint and 1969 paint. Thing hasn’t been that shiny since the 70s! Thought I’d share cuz it’s cool

thanks! for sure it does give me some more motivation. Paint is just fun, nothing changes the look of a rig faster.. plan is to get the interior painted next, so now i have something to look at as i climb in and out of this tall guy to sand.

I was trying to hire someone to do all the bodywork and paint, but I could not find anyone I felt I could trust and who didn't want 20k to do the work. so I'm learning how to do it myself. Steep learning curve for the paint but I'm happy with my first amature pannel. only going to get better.

Looking good, applying the paint is the fun part, sanding and bodywork takes some time. Paint Society on you tube has some decent videos on setting up the gun. Painting inside can be challenging, small paint gun with movable cup, or 3m PPS works well. Keep going, its going to look great.

Where did you get the paint, is that the factory 507?

That is a story for sure. I have been using Napa crossfire paint for a couple of projects, so i went there and asked for the 1969 gm 507 light blue. when i picked it up it was dark blue. as a happy accident it is the exact color on my longhorn 523 dark blue. so, if anyone wants that color, order the 507!

After a bunch of calling around by the great guy at Napa, I just grabbed my ashtray, looked at the paint chips, and found one that was 97% the same, just a touch lighter.

so i just ordered that up as it would be easy to find again 48796
