You may have a quicker than stock ratio steering gear. If not a complete new column., you could add a collapsing/telescoping shaft and a center articulating union. If you put a wrench around the shaft below the joint, maybe you can hammer the tag joint off - it looks like the bolt is out. Take steering wheel off first along with turn signal mechanism. I used a Borgeson shaft and universal joints, but there are lots of options if you search the forum. Good luck!
