Re: Strip to bare metal or not
I have the paint and primer sealer. I went with Omni acrylic urethane in single stage. I feel good about the bodywork so I moved the blazer to a bigger shop where I have room to take it apart and get some paint on.

Re: Strip to bare metal or not
I'm currently doing the same thing you're with the same level of experience. I liked seeing the progress just related to the paint/bodywork. I love a sweet 1st gen blazer!

Re: Strip to bare metal or not
I have paint on the outside of the panels and some things that I have learned and most important are (from my teacher) an old school painter.
air to gun, air out of gun, proper paint mix and clean everything twice.

Re: Strip to bare metal or not
I think everything looks great!
One thing to note if little minute details matter, are you replacing the plugs in the vertical part of the doors? They were molded in silver originally and not painted.

Re: Strip to bare metal or not
It's going together so I will see in time if the repairs and prep are good enough. Thanks all for your responses.

Re: Strip to bare metal or not
I have a truck that had repaint over old paint. fading and popping all over. Now the guy that did 1/4 ass body work and paint job gets alot of credit for paint job being crap. hat said it is 20 yo paint job. You can see the original blue under the darker blue in more than one place.
