I got my KLR running. It has had carb problems for some time. I finally got a rebuild kit and took care of business. It's fun to ride again

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Been working on the new 61 impala last couple weeks. Flushed and replaced all the fluids and filters. Found a A arm bushing has disappeared. The bolt had backed out at some point and fell out with the washer and then the rubber had worked its way out leaving the two metal pieces. So pulled that corner of the suspension apart and got new bushings pressed in. Did some diagnostic's on the motor. Found a few weak cylinders after a compression check, one head has worn guides as it sometimes puffs smoke on start up. So gave it a little tune up and then drove it out and cleaned out the carbon on some back roads and it is running better, but the winter project now will be pulling the 348 for a rebuild, but its ok for the last month or two of summer here.

Took it out to its first meet on Saturday for a local cars and coffee and then to a buddies birthday party/car show. Rides and driver super, will be really good next spring after going through the 348.

One of my favorites also ..just about bought one back in around 1966 but instead bought a piece of property . in fact, I was on my way to buy it when my brother in law waved me down on the highway and told me about the property I did buy instead,.. sold the property and doubt I would of had the car today either.. sure a pretty diesign ..This was not for from you Camaroboy as it was close to Rainier Oregon

Got the taco off the jack stands put about 40 miles on it to shake it down . No problems other than the sway bar bushings are making noise they should be here next week . Still a nice truck at 250k miles .

If the same situation had arose, I would have bought the property too, lol. I like that area around Rainier. Only problem is the heavy traffic now going through there as more and more people take the bridge into Long View to get around Portland.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Was driving the Toyota last week after finally getting it back together and after about 20 minutes the temp gage started to climb pull over and it’s squirting out the crimp seam . Bought one from Rock auto on Thursday and it was here Friday . These radiators are dirt cheap and I can see why plastic tanks crimped to the core . Got it in today after going to a car show this morning . Actually was an easy job . Took all of an hour start to finish.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I didn't work on it, just dug out my other '67 C10 from the corner of the storage building and posted it for sale. I am coming to the realization that time and funding aren't allowing me to get to these projects and they may be better off in someone else's garage and maybe getting worked on.

I, also, posted my 1989 R3500 roll back on craigslist too.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Got popped in the mouth by a trophy header and almost fell off the ladder moving the headers from one wall to the next to make room for a TV set so I can watch DVD's while working on my truck.

All I had to do was slip the headers off the nails first before removing the nails from the wall.

Took the grandaughter to see Big Boy on its heartland of America tour. Let me tell you she is BIG, six hundred tons big. The largest steam locomotive in North America & the last one operational of 25 built.

It sure could have but the TV is free from a friend and if I can manage to mount that and my DVD player on the wall without breaking my neck then another friend down the street has about a zillion DVD's I can borrow.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

.

Completed 6 weeks of ~daily 30 minute brisk walks. It's not so hot now but a month ago we were in the 100s and I walk in the heat. First "exercise" I've received on a regular basis since my mid 20s to mid 30s (I'm 55 now). Feels good physically to be more active despite some pain and there's a mental aspect that I was not aware of.

Took this shot the other day on my walking track.

I looked it up. It is a 4-8-8-4. Says it runs on No. 5 oil now.
Residual fuel oil: A general classification for the heavier oils, known as No. 5 and No. 6 fuel oils, that remain after the distillate fuel oils and lighter hydrocarbons are distilled away in refinery operations. It conforms to ASTM Specifications D 396 and D 975and Federal Specification VV-F-815C. No. 5, a residual fuel oil of medium viscosity, is also known as Navy Special and is defined in Military Specification MIL-F-859E, including Amendment 2 (NATO Symbol F-770). It is used in steam-powered vessels in government service and inshore powerplants. No. 6 fuel oil includes Bunker C fuel oil and is used for the production of electric power, space heating, vessel bunkering, and various industrial purposes.

That would not fit on my N gauge track.

It says ther is one on display in Dallas. I probably saw it at Fair Park when I went I lived there.

Gathered some firewood Black Walnut. The trunk I’m going to mill I have to rake the area before I work there are hundreds of walnut pods on the ground . Like walking on baseballs

All the pics you post of gathering wood it seems like you would have a literal mountain of it. How much do you burn over the course of fall/winter?

I know you dont use all of it for burning.

Those look like the Black Walnut trees that grow here in TN.

The Squirrels around here have to Sharpen their Teeth to eat those nuts.

Heck I'm picturing some beautifully grained Black Walnut gun stock with a polished blued barrel and receiver.
Maybe a pre'64 Winchester Model 70 chambered in .30-06 or something.

Yea I like plinking!

That legless chair is gonna be great for brake jobs.

I like being well a head nice having 3-4 year seasoned firewood burn nice less smoke and creasote . And yes I have piles of wood about the upper field . I have more on the other side of the barn under the lean to

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Any veterans that are receiving VA medical care will relate to the following.. Others may not understand..

I had an appoint with a Community Care Dr., but the day before it, they called me an informed me that the VA has not sent them the authorization For Care renewal. That's the 2nd Dr. in 3 days, telling me of the VA's delay.. So I spent over 3 hours on the phone with Community Care.. After heated conversations with a VA supervisor, I got both renewals put in place and new appointments scheduled..

I don't know which is more work, installing a 465 four speed or talking to a government supervisor..
