Good evening children....

I mean I need the WHOLE floor. It doesn't have to be brand new, but I don't even know where to look for something like this. I looked on GMC paul's site and others and they have panels, but not a whole piece of floor like I need.

Floor I Would Be Looking For A Donor Bed Floor, You Might Be Able
To Find A Bed In A J Yard That Is Thrashed And The Floor Is Good.

They don't make a whole floor and I can't imagine what the shipping cost would be if they were reproed, start looking in junkyards or work with what you have, the 73 up have wider ribs, not sure if they would bolt up somewhat close or not.

Well.....I don't care about the width of the ribs. I'm making this truck the way I want it, not back to stock. If I can find out if a 73-88 would work, I'd be interested. If it's really close and I can bolt it up by drilling holes and filling old holes w/lead or welds, that'd be good.

Check with Smonty. I was over there about a week ago, and he had about 3 or 4 metal whole bed floors next to his house.

Just went to the Good Guys Car show here in Spokane today...guy had a sweet 67 there and I noticed something different about the inside of the bed. He told me he put a floor out of a 90-something truck in there. Can't remember the exact year, but it looked damn good...now that Gee Emm mentioned the wider ribs, that is probably what the difference was. Another option that I have heard of is the metal floors out of a u-haul truck...they are aluminum (light), smooth, and strong. Would just have to cut to fit, then mount it right to the cross sills.

I guess my best bet is to just get some measurements and start looking in junk yards for any bed floor that will fit with some cutting. you guys need to check out my other post I am about to put up.....Pleasant suprises.

I have a customer that used a 73-87 swb bed bottom on his 67-72 bed sides. He said it was not that big of a deal. I want to check it out but never have time.

Could a guy not just use a sheet of 1/8" steel plate and use the old floor as a template?? Thats what I was thinking of doing.

I did a steelfloor replacement in the old longhorn. most of you guys know that the longhorn only came with a wood floor, so all the work was custom, box rails & all. The center 4' has not been laid yet, but I plan to use 14guage tread plate (steel). the end rail on the box is a 3x3x 1/8" wall tube, & the main rails are 3x2, with a 1x2 over the axle, & tied together from end to end with 2x2 tubes(man did that stiffen the old truck!) the 1st foot in on the floor is laid in 12 guage smooth steel sheet, & the complete mess wasnt too bad to layout. here are a few shots... http://community.webshots.com/user/hotrodhorn

I'm looking for a SWB floor. I'd use a LWB floor if I could get away with it and doing some cutting.

I just got two new catalogs..........Year One and Classic Industries. I remember seeing bed panels in one of them (not the whole thing, but half sheets) they had the correct size strips and wheel well cutouts. The books are at work. I am at home. I'll look tomorrow and let you know which one.

If anyone needs a SWB fleetside bed floor I have 3. None of them are perfect but they have all the braces. Just come and get them coz I am giving them away. I had planned to restore these floors but you know how plans go. I will not ship them but if you can figure out a way to get them have at em.
