Re: Eliminate draft tube options

looking good. soon it will be in your shop.
possibly consider a support clamp on the oil pressure sender because vibration causes cracks in the fittings. the longer and heavier the parts are then the ore chance of having an issue. I have seen some crack at the exit from the block and you don't want that. easier to whip up a clamp before it goes into the truck.
you're gonna have fun driving soon. kepp posting up pics as you go

Did you break in the cam? Ran it at 1500-2000 rpm for 20 minutes.
In the video the rpm sounds low.

Yeah, the builder has run it multiple times including a run to burn in the cam. He’s going to run it again tomorrow for another high rpm run prior to shipping.

A buddy of mine accused me of sitting in the truck playing the video loud and pretending to drive the truck. LOL

Re: Eliminate draft tube options

Considering the front mount, is there a need for an engine tie down strap?

It also has two mounts on either side of the bell housing.

Re: Eliminate draft tube options

What are you using for a throttle hook up?

I’ve seen a steel cable looped over an exhaust manifold close to the head and tied onto the frame.

I have a knock-0ff Lokar pedal that mounts through the firewall and the stainless steel sheathed cable goes up the sealed car enclosure for my McCulloch supercharger (from a 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk) and attaches to the throttle mechanism.

Re: Eliminate draft tube options

Your lokar cable is better than a mechanical linkage.
If a mount breaks at least your engine won’t go full throttle.
A steel cable looped from the front of the engine (drivers side ) down to the frame is just a precautionary device. Just in case a mount breaks and the motor twists up to the passenger side.

Have any pictures that show how it’s attached to the engine and frame?

Re: Eliminate draft tube options

if you have a place nearby that makes cables with pressed on connections you could have a cable made for the purpose of engine torque restriction, you know, to save the hassle of a motor mount giving out and causing damage. they could press on a connection with a bolt hole the size you need and the cable length you need. ensure to leave a little slack so the engine can move a little otherwise you will hear the harmonics of the engine through the solid link to the frame when the engine pulls even a little.personally I think cable looks better than chain, just me though.
